Poetry Workshop Participant



Duties of Volunteer:

Take part in workshop with shelter residents. With other volunteers and shelter residents, read published poetry and discuss. Then invited to write your own poetry.

Qualifications:

An interest in poetry. Formal writing skills are not needed. An interest in listening and empowering those who are homeless to write poetry.

Days and times needed: Mondays 1:00-2:30

Does the volunteer work with veterans in this positionVeterans are one of the populations served at this shelter and occasionally take part in poetry workshop.

Orientation: supervision, training and evaluation given to volunteer: Yes, by the shelter’s volunteer coordinator

Volunteer benefits: (parking, meals, transportation, work environment) The environment is friendly, supportive, a chance to share thoughts that emerge from poetry. Free parking on Lakeside Avenue
