Autism Society of Greater Akron

The Autism Society of Greater Akron (ASGA) is an affiliate of the national organization of the Autism Society of America (ASA) and works to achieve its mission in Summit, Stark, Medina, Portage, and Wayne counties: We create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully.  ASGA has its own 501c3 and board of directors.  ASGA’s vision is to create a world where everyone in the Autism community is connected to the support they need when they need it. ASGA was founded in 1987 by parents of children with Autism so they could share information, educate themselves about Autism, learn to advocate for better outcomes for their children, and raise awareness. As the incidence of Autism increased over the years, the organization made the decision to hire staff to provide more consistent programs and services in the community.  ASGA provides information and referral to services, education, advocacy, skill enhancement classes, and adapted community events.
