Opportunity Details
CLE Bee
The Literacy Cooperative will host the 8th annual CLE Bee on September 20, 2023, at 5PM - Windows on the River. The event will include, the competition, TLC mission moments, sponsor content, food/drinks, and other bits of levity.
Will you join us as a volunteer? We are looking for word enthusiasts to help at the competition.
Spell checkers: Spell Checker volunteers will be assigned to a team table. With each round they will sit in a chair in front of the table and check the spelling of the word displayed by the team. Spell Checkers will be equipped with an Official Word List for each round. As they check the spelling they will mark their tally sheet with a √ for correct and an X for incorrect. They should give a thumbs up/down to communicate with the team. After the PowerPoint word reveal is projected and the Judge says, “score your team,”. After the round is complete, Spell Checkers can stand and stretch and then get organized for the next round by placing the next tally sheet on their clipboard. Anyone who enjoys the pressure of competition is good for this role. They need to be detail oriented to check word spellings correctly, friendly, and focused. A short orientation is necessary for all spell checkers by the competition coordinator to go over duties, answer questions, etc. Usually done at 5:30 pm in the main room.
