Foster Youth Mentor

Be the change: mentor a young person in foster care!

The Foster Youth Mentoring program serves youth 10 and over in permanent custody of Cuyahoga County (Cleveland). Following the same evidence-based pratices as Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, mentors are screened, interviewed, and trained by licensed social workers before being offered a match based on the experience they seek. Once a match is created they continue to receive ongoing support from their Licensed Clinical Case Manager over the course of their match. Community-based outings with your mentee occur twice per month, and weekly contact is encouraged.

All expenses up to $250/month are reimbursed, as well as $75 for a birthday gift and $150 for milestones. The program also offers quarterly group outings with other matches to places like Cedar Point, Kent State University and Playhouse Square. The time commitment is about 8 hours/month for at minimum of 1 year.
