Shaker Square Farmers Market Assistant
North Union Farmers Market is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to connecting Northeast Ohio's certified local food producers with the community through a network of vibrant farmers markets. Our mission is to promote the environmental, economic, and health benefits of locally grown food—building a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable Cleveland.
Volunteers play a vital role in everything we do, from supporting market operations to running educational programs and ensuring access to healthy food for all. Whether you're passionate about local agriculture, healthy eating, or just want to get involved in your community, we have a place for you!
Volunteer Opportunities
🛠 Market Set-Up & Clean-Up
Help us prepare for market day! Volunteers assist with setting up tents, tables, chairs, and signage before the market opens, and help break everything down afterward. Great for early risers who enjoy physical activity and teamwork.
📊 Market Attendance Tracking
Be part of the data team! We'll train you on our method for counting market visitors—vital information that helps us measure success and secure funding through grants.
🌱 Mighty Locavores Program
Make learning fun! Volunteers help run our educational outreach program for over 4,000 children annually, teaching the importance of healthy, local food. Shifts are Saturday mornings (8 AM–12 PM) at Shaker Square after a short training session.
💳 Low-Income Access Assistance
Help make fresh food accessible to all. Volunteers are trained to operate the EBT machine and track SNAP, WIC, and Senior Coupon transactions at our Market Information Tents. Your support ensures everyone can participate in the market.
